The cruise was well organized and we were not exposed to any inconveniences. Everything was easy. The excursions were interesting and the guides were good. Travel to and from the ship during excursions was comfortable. Dining was a pleasurable experience and the staff was friendly. There was entertainment and activities available for those who wanted such. The trip itself, including the scenery along the river and the towns and cities we visited was first rate. It was an excellent experience.

Let me say upfront that we have a wonderful cuise. We picked the itenary of the cruise and not the boat so when we arrived onboard for our cruise, the condition of the boat and the stateroom amenities did not impressed us but we were okay with it because of the great agenda planned - the bed is not comfortable, there were not enough drawers for our clothes and the closet is too big for any use and the TV is too small to be enjoyable. The chairs in the lounge were not comfortable at all and the internet access is next to none (I dont understand why Viking even bother to provide laptop when there is so limited access to the internet). The most memorable thing(s) is the service and the food selection. I particularly like the idea of the buffet option at the lounge and local food offerings of the regions. The entertainment was most appropriate and very good. I am however disappointed at how the outbreak on the boat was being handled. It was announce on Day 3 of the cruise that 6 people fell ill on board (vomiting and diarrhea) but actually it was more like 12 (my partner being 1 who did not reported the gastro symptoms he had - and I followed with the same illness 2 hours after) We were both sick for 2 days and self quarrantine ourselves to the cabin) By day 7 to 10, just about 75% of the people on board were sick. During all this time, the service staff was very tight lipped about the outbreak and no follow up communication was offered after Day 3 on how they are managing the outbreak and what is being done to contain it. I think most people would be satisfied with some sort of communication as to what they have found out eg, ruling out food poisoning or ruling out the water and ice being contaminated etc. I thought the situation could have been better handled by the captain being the person of authority and should know everything that is happening onboard. Personally I dont know if I will use Viking again.
