During my visit to the beaches, I chose to stay at your hotel because it seemed like a very nice and rustic place to stay. I rented room 11 and stayed overnight on Monday, 7.9.2019. I believe I arrived around 3:00 or 4:00 p.m.
After receiving the keys, my husband took his wallet as well as any cash in our possession but left most of our belongings in the room. This included a backpack I stored in the armoire. Within that backpack, there was a wallet that contained no money but several credit cards I brought in case of emergency. During the hour and a half I left the room to go eat and walk the beach, someone from the hotel entered the room and took the credit cards in my wallet and I am 100% the room was locked when I left it.
The next day, I received several text messages from the credit card companies indicating someone was using the credit cards to purchase electronics at Casablanca as well as items from a hardware store in Canas. It seems they purchased close to $8,000.00 in merchandise. All though I will not be responsible for those charges, I am very saddened for the businesses that accepted the credit cards without requiring ID as they will not be reimbursed for those purchases.
At the moment, our checking account, HSA account and various credit cards have been closed or frozen. I have to say that I am deeply disappointed this occurred.
